Research Interests

We study the role of the microbiome in animal health, discover antibiotic resistance producing bacteria and how biofilms develop in Hawaiian streams and fishponds. We use a range of techniques and approaches including molecular genetics, microscopy, 16S rRNA sequencing, transcriptomics, metagenomics, comparative genomics and experimental evolution to learn more about these research fields.
