Guidelines and Rules for Submission of Abstracts
Abstract Submission Deadline is March 14, 2003!
All submitted abstract must conform to the following guidelines and
instructions in order to be considered.
- Size. The entire
abstract must be written in 10-point Times; and, the content, including
title, author(s), affiliation(s), city and state, text and disclosure
information (if applicable), must fit within the allocated space (6.5"
wide by 4.75" high). The downloadable Abstract Template
document contains a text box that will yield the correct size and font
characteristics when an abstract is typed or pasted into it.
- Title. The title must
be written in title case (not all caps) and in bold type; and, it
should be brief and clear.
- Authors and
Co-Authors. All authors should be listed, and the presenting
author's name must be underlined. The presenting author will serve as
the primary contact person for the submitted abstract, and s/he will be
responsible for giving the oral or poster presentation. It is the
responsibility of the presenting author to obtain the approval of the
co-authors on the submission of the abstract, its publication in the
meeting program, and its presentation. Deadline for abstract withdrawal
is April 30, 2003.
- Body of Abstract. The
body of the abstract should be clear and concise, describing purpose of
the study and the methods used; and, the results should contain
adequate detail and discussed in the conclusions. Please avoid the use
of subheadings (e.g., methods, results, etc.) and statements such as,
"The results will be discussed" We will allow tables and/or figures,
but they must fit within the allowable space provided. All
abbreviations must be spelled-out the first time they appear; but, they
can be abbreviated thereafter. Numerals should be used to indicate
numbers, except to begin sentences. Finally, drugs should be referred
to by their non-proprietary (generic) names.
- Changes. Minor
changes to submitted abstracts are allowed, provided they are made by
April 14, 2003. Please send your request for abstract modification to
snrp-hawaii@pbrc.hawaii.edu by this deadline.
- Research Subject Category
and Preferred Form of Presentation. All authors must complete each
of these sections on the Abstract
Submission Form. We would like to ensure that everyone's
presentation (oral and poster) is placed in the appropriate session.
Only SNRP Investigators will be invited to give oral presentations,
all others are welcome to submit abstracts for poster presentation.
- Submission. All
abstracts must be submitted on-line at
http://www.pbrc.hawaii.edu/snrp/conf/abstract.html. We will not accept fax copies of
abstracts and, there is no limit to the number of abstract submitted.
- Deadline. Abstracts
must be received on or before March 14, 2003.
- Notification of
Receipt. The author should inform us at snrp-hawaii@pbrc.hawaii.edu if confirmation of receipt is
not received within 5 business days of abstract submission.
- Proofread your abstract
carefully. A group of your peers will review the abstracts for
acceptance and will assign each abstract to a poster or oral session.
The best abstracts from each thematic category will be selected for
oral presentation.
- Notification of
Acceptance. We will give further notice as to which of the
abstracts are selected for oral presentations. All others will be
presented in the poster session.
- Fees and Expenses.
All presenting authors must pay the symposium registration fee and
assume responsibility for their travel and lodging expenses.
