HARC 010 - A Prospective Study of Drug Compliance in Subjects Receiving Induction Therapy with Zidovudine, Lamivudine and Indinavir.  This study is being conducted by Pharmacist Scott Souza and the nurses of the Hawaii AIDS Clinical Research Program, in collaboration with the ACTU staff of Washington University.  Clinical outcome as a result of antiretroviral therapy is not only dependent on an individual's immune response and viral resistance, but is highly dependent on patient compliance with the drug regimen.  In the context of an ACTG antiretroviral study (ACTG 343), this study will attempt to correlate compliance, as measured by pill count, with reduction/lack of reduction in plasma HIV-1 RNA levels after week 24 of highly active antiretroviral therapy for HIV-1.  Pill count information is currently being gathered from 15 local patients on ACTG 343 and from approximately 40 patients also on ACTG 343 at Washington University ACTU.
