HARC 006 - Hawaii HIV Database. Conducted through a collaborative agreement between the RCMI-supported Hawaii AIDS Research Program and the Hawaii State Department of Health, the Hawaii HIV Database creates a confidential database utilizing HSPAMM data and requests patient consent to directly contact them for future research opportunities should their database information suggest possible eligibility for a particular research project. It is anticipated that this will serve as a valuable tool not only for epidemiologic surveys but for the recruitment of specific patient populations for research purposes. We aim for a target enrollment of 500 individuals, approximately two-thirds of the 750 current participants in the HSPAMM program. To date, more than 200 HIV-1-infected individuals have been accrued to the Hawaii HIV Database. This database is being used successfully as a recruitment tool for locally conceived projects, as well as for national protocols.
