HARC 001 - PPD Skin Test Reactivity and Anergy in HIV-Infected Patients in Hawaii.  This study, published in the Hawaii Medical Journal, found a relatively low prevalence (4.1%) of latent Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) in the HIV-1-infected population in Hawaii, compared to the overall high prevalence of MTB infection in the Hawaiian population.  Moreover, despite relatively advanced HIV-1-induced immunosuppression, PPD skin testing was capable of identifying patients for TB prophylaxis.
