Generic Abstract Submission Guidelines

National Institutes of Health National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)

PRIDE Scholars must prepare their abstracts using Microsoft® Word. The abstract should fit on one page and use 12-point text and one inch margins all around. There is a 300-word maximum for the body of the abstract. Abstracts can be less than 300 words but abstracts longer than 300 words will be returned to the student for rewriting.

All abstracts must be reviewed and approved by each scholar’s research mentor or by an individual authorized by the mentor to review and approve the abstract.

DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: Noon; Monday, July 24, 2006
SUBMIT ABSTRACTS AS ATTACHMENTS TO: healani@pbrc.hawaii.edu and okubo@pbrc.hawaii.edu

Scholars should submit their abstracts to their research mentors to allow sufficient time to edit the abstract before the submission deadline. USE THE PRESENTER'S LAST NAME PLUS THE WORD “ABSTRACT” AS THE FILE NAME FOR THE STUDENT ABSTRACT. Example “KamakaAbstract.doc”

Briefly, the format is as follows: Title in capital letters and boldface type, followed by the authors’ names and their affiliations. The presenting author’s name (scholar) should be underlined. The scholar author should be first author and the research mentor should be the last author. Any coauthors should be included between the first and last authors. Affiliations should be noted using superscript numbers. Example:
